The typical basement window application
usually starts with the complete removal of your existing wood or metal frame. The remaining void is cleaned out and mortar is laid down. The pre-fabricated Glass Block Window is then inserted into this void with a gap left around it on purpose.
The installer then shims the Glass Block Window to where it is level and plumb
and is pleasing to the eye.
Mortar is mixed and squeezed around the window from both sides, then finished off on both sides. 3 1/8" of mortar fills the void creating an air tight seal. Once the mortar completely dries, your home is safer from Break-ins, Warmer in the Winter, and Cooler in the Summer!
